Don't Bring a Knife to a Gunfight

Also, Texans are still armed. Victim identified in fatal Katy shooting; homeowner claims self-defense - Covering Katy News

This also appears to be a domestic violence situation. People need to understand the sentence, "It's over."

Jesse Schuler, 33, was fatally shot Friday morning after he allegedly charged at a homeowner with a knife during a confrontation near the front door of a residence

He was apparently there, because his ex-girlfriend was there.

Investigators say Schuler was an ex-boyfriend of one of the women who lives at the home and had come over early Friday morning.

Whatever he intended, I'm guessing that this isn't how he saw things turning out.

I'm no lawyer, but it is my understanding that every homicide is referred to a grand jury in Texas. It is supposed to eliminate politics in charging decisions around murder cases, but in reality DAs wield a lot of influence over grand jury deliberations. Still, Texas does seem to avoid the insane decisions we see coming out of Manhattan.

Katy, Texas is about 25 miles west of downtown Houston.

The homeowner was released pending the conclusion of the investigation. Based on the facts presented here, and clearly this is not everything, I would say that this sounds like a case of justified self-defense. Which is a human right.

  1. Yes, under law ALL homicides go before a Grand Jury in Texas. And yes... Prosecutors have TOTAL control over them. They decide what if any evidence is presented and there is NO attorney for anyone being investigated allowed to be present. In short a Grand Jury Is pretty much a "star chamber" where facts and justice are irrelevant. A Grand Jury may have been useful decades ago but it has long since been mutated into just another tool of the system for destroying freedom.
