My emphasis is in the above quote. Haven't the Woke failures of Rings of Prime, Wheel of Time, Ironheart, and the complete implosion of the CW network convinced people in Hollywood that this playbook isn't working? The short answer is, "No." The long answer is, "Hell no!"
The series, which Matthews created and will produce under her Little Engine label, is a contemporary, music-infused YA retelling of Wizard of Oz based on L. Frank Baum’s books using the Yellow Brick Road as a metaphor for the challenges and choices facing young adults today.

They already have. Between "The Wiz" and "Wicked," there ain't a lot of Frank L. Baum's works left. Basically the pattern left is "The Names are the same but the Plot has been changed to screw over everything."
