When Only Cops Have Guns...

Only cops will have "accidental" discharges. I would call it negligent, but then I wasn't there. Bodycam video shows Florida deputy accidentally shooting homeowner during home invasion call, authorities say - CBS Miami

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has released body camera video of a deputy shooting a homeowner as he was about to open his front door and now the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating.

There was a 911 call about a home invasion. Four guys tried to enter a home, but were stopped by an armed homeowner. So far, so good.

When deputies got to the scene, the victim went to unlock the door and one of the deputies accidentally discharged his firearm, striking the man, according to the sheriff's office.

He was taken to a hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening and was released the same day.

At least they didn't kill anyone.

Unless we want to blame this on the Sig P320 debacle, there are a few things the deputy did wrong. Why was he pointing a gun at someone, when he clearly didn't know if that person was a threat? (He wasn't.) Why was his finger on the trigger without an identified target? On this alone I would call it negligent. At the very least he needs a lot more training.

None of this surprises me.

Orange County, Florida is the county that includes Orlando.

Self-defense is a human right.
