Was This Soft-on-Crime At Work?

This was either the result of Soft-on-Crime policies or Defund the Police. Family of teen allegedly murdered by soccer coach suing Los Angeles County, city of L.A.

Back in March, a soccer player went to his coach's home to help make team jerseys. He was never seen alive again. His body turned up in ditch. He had died from alcohol poisoning.

The family of the 13-year-old who was allegedly killed by his soccer coach is suing Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles for failing to perform a background check on the coach who is said to have subjected the boy to grooming and sexual abuse.

The coach was arrested and charged with one count of murder with the special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission or attempted commission of lewd acts with a child.

Oscar’s brother Daniel, through tears, pleaded for justice at Monday morning’s press conference as the family’s legal team claimed that the DA’s office was slow to file charges on two previous criminal complaints against Garcia Aquino due to a backlog of cases and that he should have been arrested sooner.

Why bother to process cases when you aren't going to prosecute anything. Or the backlog was a result of the lack of police resources in the face of the amount of crime in Los Angeles. Either way, your priorities are screwed up. Remember that California is spending BILLIONS of dollars on a high-speed rail to nowhere. Well, not quite nowhere. Still, it is not a stretch to say that the priorities in California for spending tax money is probably not aligned with the way most people believe tax money should be spent.

And then there is the whole, "we can't do anything mean to immigrants" stance in what passes for a Justice System on the Left Coast.

The bit of information that seems to be missing from all of the current articles on this incident, and ALL of the English-language articles, is that Mario Edgardo García Aquino is an illegal alien. This story is from April, shortly after the victim went missing and the suspect was arrested. Inmigrante indocumentado, entrenador acusado de matar a hispano de Los Ángeles - OR - Undocumented immigrant, coach accused of killing in Hispanic Los Angeles

Translation is by way of Firefox browser new translation function. Not too bad, though not perfect.

Or in English:

The soccer coach accused of murdering 13-year-old Hispanic man from Los Angeles, whose body was found in Oxnard, is an undocumented immigrant, officials related to the investigation revealed anonymously.

Mario Edgardo García Aquino, 43, appeared in court in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday at a hearing for the death of young Oscar Omar Hernández.

I wish the family the best of luck in their suit, but I doubt much will come of it. Bureaucrats are never held to account for the results of their screw-ups.
