HeyJackass! has the crime stats from Chicago. Summer's Finale
Labor Day weekend means it’s time to close out this year’s demonization-free Summer of Silly Decisions. Since the silly decisions began in earnest at noon on Friday, May 23rd, we’ve tallied 129 homicides and another 583 shot & wounded making it quite a bit less sillier than past years.
The final totals were 9 killed, with 51 shot and wounded.
Those totals are up from the same weekend last year, though down from the insanity that was the Summer of Floyd, and the couple of years that followed. The Labor Day Average (2015 thru this year) is 11 killed, with 42 shot and wounded
For a 3-day, holiday weekend, HeyJackass! counts totals from noon on Friday through 6 AM Tuesday.
HeyJackass! also counts all murders by whatever means, even though the wounded category only includes "shot and wounded."
