Early in the month, it was Freddie Mercury's Birthday (the 5th), and I noted that the current generation is not familiar with the music of Queen. That Saturday (the 6th) I featured what was probably their signature song, "Bohemian Rhapsody." You could make the argument that "We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions" was their signature.
Since I find it hard to believe that people of any age don't know Queen, I'm including another song. Consider it part of your musical education.
This is "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen from the 1978 album Jazz.
Here is a link to last weeks entry: Bohemian Rhapsody.
It should be noted that Freddie Mercury didn't actually like fat-bottomed girls. He still did his job.
Heard Fat Bottom Girls on the radio yesterday while driving around. Sang along loudly, and enthusiastically. Probably no one would call it "well". Enjoyed it a lot.
ReplyDeleteMusic used to be boisterous. Not so much anymore.

What is the Radio of which you speak?
DeleteI'm older than dirt and even I gave up on radio in favor of streaming, and having a big part of my CD collection downloaded to my phone. Of course radio around here is pretty awful.
Radio is what I'm stuck with in the older truck. My wife canceled the XM for that vehicle (and I agree because it got crazy expensive). The CD player seems to have stopped working with the last of 10 discs for my current audio book. And since the truck is 22 years old, there isn't any blutooth or aux in for streaming. That's also why I get to hear what the nutballs on NPR or Pacifica think when I get REALLY bored.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, I have a modern radio to put in it, but I haven't had the time... (and I prefer buttons to touchscreens, especially in a vehicle.) The death of the CD player has moved the new radio install up the list though.
I do like the serendipity of radio...

The only serendipity of radio I get around here is bad and worse. Pop. Country. Oldies in which they play the same 40 songs over and over and over and ... (Worse than top 40 back in the day. At least the Top 40 changed)
