If you know Mark Knopfler it is from his work with Dire Straits. I would have assumed that everyone knows Dire Straits a few years back, but it has been pointed out that the younger generations are genuinely surprised we had music back in the dark ages before Google.
But even those who know Dire Straits might not be familiar with his solo work. I willing to bet not many know of the country music he created with his band the Notting Hillbillies.
This song is "Coyote" by Mark Knopfler from his 2002 album The Ragpicker's Dream. A bit of Folk Rock should go down nicely while we wait for the coffee to take hold.
