  1. It is terrible that a family man is shot down in cold bold. Praying the family will be comforted in their grief and they will know justice.

But what kind of cop was David Rose? Here he is presented as a police officer first, a family man second.

The following may seem tangential but does explain where I'm coming from.
Some years ago I was stuck in stopped traffic for nearly two hours on a multilane highway. As traffic began moving again, I saw the reason; a motorcade of hundreds, maybe thousands of officers and firefighter in official cars, trucks, motorcycle, even ladder trucks and ambulances were attending a funeral. Whoever it was, was well reputed. But to stop an entire major highway for that!

This last Tuesday I watched as dozens of police vehicles flew by at very high speed. Some of the police vehicles stopped to block a controlled intersection so the speeding cars could speed through a red light.

I also saw an ambulance with lights and sirens blocked from entering the intersection from the side road. After waiting about two minutes, the ambulance turned towards the hospital, opposite direction of the speeding police vehicles. I myself was heading to the ER as a patient. I was delayed for much longer than the ambulance.

I am still furious about it.

    1. I've seen enough of these articles that this is how they are presented. The statement is usually coming from the sheriff or chief of police for whichever department lost an officer. After describing the incident, and saying "the officer was a member of our dept. for ..." they get around to the "he is survived by..." statement. It is almost boilerplate.
