Oklahoma man gets 45 years for North Texas home invasion | WFAA
He broke into a home, armed with a rifle that had been outfitted with a binary trigger.
Both Thurman and the homeowner were hit by gunfire. The homeowner was shot in the leg and chest; Thurman was also shot in the chest, per the DA. First responders transported both men to the same Fort Worth hospital.
The homeowner also survived.
Thurman's ex-girlfriend was inside the home during the break-in. So were her mother and her two children under the age of two. This is why I say it is domestic violence. "How dare you live without me," is an attitude I read about all too often.
Haivan Michael Thurman is 25. He was sentenced to 45 years, and will have to serve at least half that time, with credit for any pretrial detention time, before he is eligible for parole. He will be in his 40s, before he is free again.
Weatherford, Texas is about 30 mile drive west of downtown Fort Worth.
