The incident happened on July 14th, early in the morning.
Cortez was shot when he allegedly charged at the homeowner while holding an unknown object, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
He was airlifted to a hospital and entered into the intensive care unit. He died on 22 July.
As for the "Unbiased Journalist," they can't conceive of legal self-defense.
17 News has reached out to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office to ask if any charges will be filed against the homeowner.
