This is another sign of the breakdown of society. Hialeah UPS shooting was case of self-defense, cops say; wounded man arrested
3:30 AM at a UPS facility in Hialeah, Florida, which is a suburb of Miami, being just north of the city.
There was a fight between two groups of UPS employees. Rival gangs? They don't give much in the way of details.
Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, an HPD spokesperson, said during the fight, one person “threatened to retrieve a friend” with a gun from a nearby car. That friend, police said, was identified as Anthony Ernest, a former employee.
“The other individual involved in the fight then ran to his own awaiting vehicle, where his family (brother, mother, younger sister) were picking him up from work,” Rodriguez said.
When Anthony Ernest approached the car, the brother drew a gun and fired, striking Ernest in the leg.
Cops arrived, found Ernest who was hiding, and took him to a local hospital, and then they "arrested him on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm."
Why would you assume you are the only one armed in a confrontation in greater Miami? Florida wasn't the first state to have "Shall Issue" concealed carry, but it was the state that started the modern swing in that direction back in the late 1980s.
In any event I think we can file this under Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0.
In my state of constitutional carry so many people are armed that one should presume everyone is armed.
ReplyDeleteYet crimes such as B&E, robbery, or road rage continue.
The only way that makes sense is the perps are all idiots of the highest order. Even in crimes of passion, road rage as example, the antagonist backs down on the sight of cold steel. But until then, he acted as if he would prevail. Yet even then, he might escalate.
I just don't understand this.
"The only way that makes sense is the perps are all idiots of the highest order."
DeleteI think that about sums it up.
