Fantastic Four: First Steps Set to be a Disaster

Last minute rewrites are never a good sign. From That Park Place: Sources Report Fantastic Four Ending Completely Reworked Through Last Minute Reshoots

It is almost like Marvel doesn't know how to make a movie anymore. You write a script. You read the script. You decide if it's good based on the script. And THEN you make the movie. This whole "Let's start making the movie before we know what the story is" just doesn't work.

And it isn't getting better. Fantastic Four: First Steps seems to be the worst example, of a collection of bad examples.

According to a post on X by user Will-Iam Smith, audiences didn’t respond well to the film’s ending during early test screenings. The post reads:

“Hearing the test screenings didn’t go over well because audiences didn’t vibe with the ending, so now they’re reshooting some scenes. I’m still hopeful it’ll be good, but it’s a little worrying — Marvel really needs this one to be a home run. #FantasticFour”

Which was brushed off as rumor, but That Park Place has confirmed that they are, or were, reshooting the ending.

Pedro Pascal stood in front of the international press at Cannes, dropped an F-bomb on political opponents in the United States, promoted a film that vilifies conservatives, and walked away with applause and headlines. Meanwhile, Gina Carano — who said far less, without profanity or attacks — remains blacklisted from Hollywood, forced to take her fight to court.

He basically told everyone who he doesn't agree with to F- Off. Not in so many words, but the meaning is clear.

I would like to say that Pedro Pascal being an idiot destroyed any desire I had to see this movie, but most of that desire was killed when they announced he would play Reed Richards, and then they said that the movie would address gender politics, and to do that they gender-swapped the Silver Surfer. I will see this movie when the DVD comes to my library, and I can watch it for free. Maybe.
