How Is That Criminal Justice Reform Working Out?

They won't hold this guy until he actually kills someone. Ordered deported in 2022, migrant is on probation for gun possession and charged with beating his ex-girlfriend. But judges refuse to keep him in jail. - CWB Chicago

A Venezuelan migrant who was ordered deported in 2022 is living in Chicago where he is now on probation for possessing a loaded ghost gun and on pretrial release for allegedly battering his ex-girlfriend repeatedly over the course of several days, according to court records. Prosecutors asked judges in both cases to keep Pedro Colmenares in jail as a safety risk. Both judges denied those requests.

So domestic violence is not enough. Gun charges - I thought so-called ghost guns were extra-scary - are also not enough. Maybe ICE can take him off the street.
