Browser Recomendations Anyone?

So Firefox, my go-to browser for a very long time, has decided that they are not a browser company, but an advertising firm, dedicated to selling user info on the open market. Hand in hand with that, they have also gotten much slower.

Currently I am using LibreWolf, a browser based on Firefox that is more security and privacy focused. I'm not 100 percent convinced. I've tried Chromium (the basis of Chrome - still Google related) and Brave. Brave is interesting, but they keep trying to get me to sign up for their ad system.

There is an even more extreme version of the Firefox line of browsers, whose name escapes me at the moment, and a completely de-Googled version of Chromium yet to try. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Chrome phones home to Google. Opera phones home to Italy. The last time I had Vivaldi installed I was having some kind of problem, but I can't remember what it was at this distance. (Opera is another browser based on Chromium, and Vivaldi is a "privacy" version of Opera.) I don't believe Full Moon is supported anymore (basically a classic version of Firefox from years ago), but I haven't looked into it.

  1. My "not 100% sure" about LibreWolf has turned into 100% sure I won't be using it. It is so secure, I can't log into to add comments to my own blog. I guess I need to look at Brave again.

  2. Use Brave and ignore the ad system like the rest of us.

  3. There are no Windows browsers that don't have negatives baked in too them. Switch to Linux and things are better. But no browser is perfect.

  4. Brave plus deploy a pi-hole add blocker on your home network. It is a DNS relay on your network that blocks links to ad sites completely, and silently so sites like U-tube don't have any idea you aren't seeing their crap.

    1. I will have to give this another go. I installed it early on, but I had some issues with it. Don't remember what they were, but then I've had issues - not errors or problems really - with all of the Chromium browsers. I have Chromium installed and use it for some stuff, and even have Chrome installed because some sites will only run DRM under the official browser of the evil corporation itself.

  5. I have done lots of testing on browsers and on internet-access programs and...

Dangit, Microsoft products actually work quite well. Bing for a browser, Echo for internet access.

One of the tests I did was political searches. Bing seemed to be the most neutral.

And also I tested browser tabs. Like see who can handle 20+ browser tabs at the same time. Including closing the laptop or going standby on a desktop. And Bing is the only one that didn't suck up tremendous resources or lock the computer up.

I know, Microsoft. Dammit. But they work quite well.

    1. If I was using Windows that would be one thing, but I'm not.

And I hate Microsoft almost as much as I hate Apple, and only slightly less than I have Google. It would be tough to pick which one is more evil, though I have eliminated MS from my life. And I never wanted to live in Apple's walled garden.
