I think he's lucky that they only detained him for police and didn't hand out some street justice. Bystanders detain robbery, carjacking suspect until Chicago cops arrive - CWB Chicago
A man on pretrial release for allegedly driving a freshly carjacked vehicle carjacked a woman and tried to rob two other victims before bystanders stepped in and detained him until Chicago police arrived, officials say.
The judge ordered him held since he violated the terms of his previous release.
And yes, there are plenty of videos out there, that show criminals, after the bystanders detain them, getting a severe beat-down from some of those bystanders, while they wait for the cops to arrive.
Something about this story makes me feel that things are, or at least might be, turning a corner in Chicago. Maybe that is just wishful thinking. People came together to help one another. The courts actually took a habitual criminal off the street, at least for a time. Still, the city has fallen a long way from where it was.
