Why is that people never admit they are responsible for their own lives? Florida man shoots friend over poor life decisions argument, gets stabbed

A group of friends was hanging out and playing video games, when he became angry and blamed his friends for his bad life choices. Alcohol was involved.

One of the friends told deputies that at some point in the night Gant got angry with the group for not being good friends to him when they were growing up. He threatened to shoot them but the friends disregarded his threats and things calmed down, investigating deputies said.

As the friends continued to socialize, Gant became angry again and directed his shooting threats to the victim. That started an argument between Gant and the victim prompting the homeowner to kick out Gant, deputies said.

Eventually a fight ensued, click thru for those details, and he pointed a gun at his victim's head.

The victim was able to push the gun away from his head as Gant fired one shot, grazing him in the head. The victim pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Gant, the arrest report said.

The stabbing is justified self-defense. The shooting resulted in a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Why it isn't attempted murder I don't know, since you don't point a gun at someone's head unless you want to murder them.
