The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down from The Band

I got the sad news on Wednesday that Garth Hudson, the last surviving member of The Band passed away on Tuesday. So we have a song in his honor.

The Band was on the radio a lot, and their farewell concert, The Last Waltz was amazing. It was filmed, and the videos are mostly on YT, but I think the quality is low. The entire concert is on Amazon Prime.

This is all just another reminder that an era has passed.

This song is "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by The Band. It is from their 1969, eponymous second album.

    That song just tears me up. Always has, always will I reckon. One can hear the wretching sorrow.
