How Is That Criminal Justice Reform Working Out?

I think you would need to ask the victim's family. Four months after getting probation for gun possession, he shot a man to death, prosecutors say - CWB Chicago

He had a loaded firearm in his car during a traffic stop. He was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to probation and 120 hours of community service since he was a "first time offender."

He has violated that probation twice since getting it on September 17, officials say. Exactly what happened the first time is unclear. But the second alleged violation is straightforward: He’s accused of killing a man last week.

And yet Illinois, and Chicago, will tell - you don't have to ask, they will just tell you - that there are not enough gun laws. Too bad they don't enforce the ones they have. And Illinois has too many gun laws, which is why I never go home anymore. Or rarely. Well, that and the out-of-control crime.

Now maybe the judge didn't have much choice based on the first time offender thing. And maybe he did, and didn't want to put the guy in jail. The only think I'm certain of is that the judge will never say anything about this incident.
