He lost his life over a tire being used versus new. Mechanic kills machete-wielding customer over tire dispute in self-defense shooting, Hialeah Police say - WSVN 7News
Hialeah Police units responded to the scene of the shooting in the area of West Second Avenue and 29th Street, at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The fact that you can get a mechanic to come to you at any time of the day, let alone 1:30 in the morning, is amazing to me. But that wasn't good enough for this guy.
At some point, a confrontation took place between both men. Police said Montes de Oca became upset after he realized the tire that Hurst had installed was a used one.
Hialeah, Florida, is a suburb of Miami, just a bit north and west of the city. It was once home to a beautiful race track, but people don't bet on horse races anymore, and so it closed in 2001. It was reopened in 2013 as a casino.
Police detained the mechanic for a time, after responding to the incident, but determined that it was a case of self-defense, and released him.

Carrying a firearm for personal protection can be crucial, especially for workers like mechanics handling late-night service calls. In this case, having a firearm likely saved Hurst’s life when he faced an unexpected, lethal threat. Without the means to defend himself, the outcome could have been far different.
Quite.
