More people in more parts of the country, are armed for their own defense. The bad guys are not getting that memo. Police: Man shot during attempted robbery at Duck N Go
This is a fairly straight-forward story of self-defense out of Eugene, Oregon.
Police say a man entered the Duck N Go Market, located at 115 Commons Drive, drew a gun, and pointed it at the store clerk, while demanding money.
The store clerk, fearing for his life, shot the suspect.
Police arrived and the guy who got shot was arrested. He was taken to a local hospital, and then taken to the county lockup.
Self-defense is a human right, but I don't have a good feeling for how the DA in Eugene views it. This seems like it would be fairly difficult to charge the clerk, but DAs have done stranger things.
The article does include this quote, which seems to be attributed to the Eugene PD.
Oregon law states that deadly force is authorized if the actions of another person reasonably places youin fear of serious physical injury or death to you or a third party.
