How Is That Criminal Justice Reform Working Out?

I wonder how the victims of the crimes would answer that. Man who robbed victim near UIC campus already had 2 robbery cases pending, prosecutors say - CWB Chicago

An 18-year-old man with two robbery cases pending in juvenile court is now charged as an adult with robbing yet another victim near the UIC campus. Terriontay Brown, 18, was detained by Judge Deidre Dyer, who cited his active juvenile cases as an aggravating factor in her decision.

The only amazing thing about this story is that the judge in the case had him held. Usually The System™ in Chicago and Cook County only hold someone if they are charged with murder.

Cops traced the victim’s iPhone and located Brown and the juvenile in the 1100 block of South Jefferson shortly after the robbery, the petition said. Brown allegedly had the victim’s belongings and a BB gun.

What he probably had was a pellet gun. Some of them are indistinguishable from a real gun at a distance. They come from the factory with orange-painted tips, but a touch-up from a can of flat black spray paint is usually applied.

I would like to think that the criminal justice system is coming to its senses, but I'm not holding my breath.
