I always try to convince people that a lot of Outlaw Country sounds an awful lot like old school Rock & Roll, but people never believe me.

    Yes, there's a lot of overlap between Outlaw and old school (Roots) Rock and Roll. Waylon Jennings springs to mind.

    Lynyrd Skynyrd and Johnny Cash's 70's albums are Outlaw in all but name.
