David Ian "Joe" Jackson was part of the New Wave/Post Punk music scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He had a couple of hits. This wasn't one of them, sadly, but it is one of his better songs in the Post Punk genre. While Post Punk is better than Punk in many ways, it was also sometimes soulless, having come into the clutches of the tiny minds running the music industry.
In the early '80s Joe Jackson would disband his Post Punk ensemble and produce a record of Jazz songs, Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive, which is quite good. I seem to have never featured one of those jazz songs; I will have to correct that soon.
This song is "Sunday Papers" by Joe Jackson from his 1979 debut album Look Sharp!.
Yet another song from WXRT's Saturday Morning Flashback. Last Saturday they were revisiting 1979.
I've always enjoyed his music. I bought some of his later works in the 80's
