Josie

I had the show Classic Albums on the background, and was "re-watching" the episode on Steely Dan's album Aja. That is perhaps the best album by Steely Dan. Tubi is free/ad-supported TV available on the web. They don't have everything, of course, but they are legit, which puts them a step up from a lot of places that "stream" video.

Steely Dan was unique in the 1970s and '80s because they did not tour for 19 years. Most bands tour after every album, but they didn't like touring, and apparently they didn't need to. Since they were not touring, they used a large number of session musicians on the album. It is almost as if each song had a different band. Not quite.

The first song on the album is "Josie," and in the episode Donald Fagen was talking about how much fun it is to play. It is a good song. It may be a great song, given that every song on that album is better than 90% of the drek produced in America today.

This is "Josie" by Steely Dan from the classic album Aja, which was released in 1977.

‡ Why the quotes on stream? Because if I mention sailing the high seas, and video in the same sentence, I think people would miss the connection to piracy.

If you haven't seen the series Classic Albums, you might look into it. I don't believe that they have all of the epsiodes on Tubi. There is an episode on Dark Side of the Moon, but it is not on Tubi, though they do have the episode on Meddle. The episode "Classic Albums: Dark Side of the Moon" is on Amazon Prime video, if you have that membership.
