How Dare You Not Respect Their Authority!

The German Government ("Vee Have Vays to make you ...") wants to throw someone in jail because they called a German politican "fat."

Yes, you read that correctly: the German government is demanding Gab user data over a two year old post that called a German politician fat.

First of all, I expected better from a European democracy. Is this law left over from the 1940s? "How dare you criticize our glorious leaders!"

At Gab AI Inc., we stand resolute in our belief that free speech is a fundamental human right and that our users should be able to express themselves without fear of censorship or retaliation. We also take the privacy of our users very seriously and will not compromise their civil liberties for the sake of appeasing foreign governments that seek to stifle free speech.

Of course it isn't just the foreign governments that hate free speech.

People say that Gab is "offensive." I have limited my exposure to just about nothing but Heavy Metal and Rock, and a few innocus political accounts that I don't find offensive. There are certainly offensive people on Gab, but then there are offensive people in the world. It is actually easier to ignore them on Gab than when they do something noteworthy in the real world.
