Is it my imagination, or is self defense really becoming more common in The Golden State? California homeowner shoots home invasion suspect, police say | Fox News
A resident in an affluent Southern California neighborhood shot a suspected home intruder Tuesday morning, police said.
The homeowner shot the suspect inside a gated home in coastal Newport Beach, authorities said.
When cops arrived they found one guy in the street with a gun and a gunshot wound. They found another guy with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
No word on the condition of the guy who was shot, or what charges he may be facing.
Police say this was targeted, and that the bad guys knew the intended victims.
As for the mayor...
"If you are thinking about coming into our city to commit crime, know that we will defend ourselves," Newport Beach Mayor Will O'Neill said in a video statement.
That is almost worthy of Sheriff Jady Grudd from Polk County, Florida. (Probably my favorite sheriff today!)
Self defense is a human right, and it might be your legal right in California.
