It didn't stop this guy. He was arrested numerous times for violating that order. A warrant for violating the order had been issued earlier in the day. Sheriff: Suspect shot during Calhoun County home invasion
In the end, the only thing that stopped him was her gun. She didn't kill him, so my guess is that he will be back again. Because he has been arrested and released numerous times over that Protection from Abuse order. It means nothing to him.
Alexandria, Alabama is 65 miles by car east of Birmingham, and about 100 miles by car west of Atlanta, Georgia.
The sheriff said the suspect has a substantial criminal history, including four violations of a protection from abuse order, six arrests since 2022, and an active warrant for violation of a protection order issued this morning.
He is currently out on bond from a previous violation of a protection order from late last year.
Even though he is clearly a danger to his ex-wife, and that he has demonstrated again and again that the court order means nothing to him, I do not expect the system will hold him. That would be unfair. In the end, I believe either she will kill him, or he will kill her.
The only thing that is going to save her, is her right to defend herself.
