Self-defense is Legal in Missouri

But then I thought it was. Greene County prosecutor rules on deadly home intruder shooting in Stone County

The incident happened on November 4 in Reeds Spring. Investigators say the homeowner shot the intruder, Michael Ruhde.

Investigators say the shooter told authorities Ruhde was acting strange in the home’s driveway. When the homeowner confronted the man, he said he was violently attacked. Investigators say Ruhde was under the influence at the time of the incidents. They say witnesses observed him as erratic before the shooting happened.

Reeds Spring, Missouri is roughly a 40 mile drive straight south of Springfield, Missouri.

The most amazing part of this story is that the shooting took place the first week of November, and we got a determination from the county attorney the week before Christmas. In my experience it is impossible to get any statement from an attorney between Thanksgiving and about January 5th. (Though to be fair, I was dealing with corporate attorneys, not prosecutors.)

Oh, and this is another reminder that drugs can be hazardous to your health. They make you do stupid shit, and you get shot.
