Vanderburgh County, Indiana is in the extreme southern part of the state, on the Kentucky state line. It is about 160 miles by car southwest of Indianapolis.
Once on scene, deputies located a man who had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and the homeowner who shot him. The deputies applied a tourniquet to the injured man, and paramedics transported him by ambulance to a local hospital.
The DA will make any determination about charges, but Indiana has a long history of respecting the right to defend yourself.
