An Amtrak trip from Chicago to New Orleans... What could that bring to mind?
The author and his childhood bestie did wind up taking a trip on the fabled City of New Orleans from end to end, Chicago to the Big Easy. Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" usually comes up around Thanksgiving, which leads to a few other songs, like this one, and "The Motorcycle Song."
