Someday, The Air Force Will Focus on Information Security

But it doesn't seem like that will be anytime in 2023.

From PJ Media we get the following: Pentagon Investigating 'Critical Compromise' of Air Force Communications Systems

First there was Jack Teixeira, who posted a bunch of Ukraine war documents on Discord.

In this new case, it was a civilian engineer working out of Arnold Air Force Base who apparently took advantage of lax security to walk off with an incredible amount of equipment and was able to access secure communications — including those of the FBI and the entire Arnold AFB communications system.

That would be bad enough. But this is so bad as to be stupid.

He also had possession of a USB drive containing “administrative passwords and electronic system keys” for the AETC radio network. And he possessed “local law enforcement radio programming files” and “Motorola radio programming files,” which were clearly marked as being U.S. government property.

That says to me, that the passwords were written down, or stored in a file, or shared via some internal messaging service, or something equally stupid.

I sure hope that the security around the nuclear weapons that the Air Force is responsible for is better than their cybersecurity.
