So self-defense IS legal in Michigan. Prosecutors: Customer who shot suspect during attempted robbery in Cassopolis was justified
This is the incident where the customer, holding a 6-pack of beer (not Bud Light), drew his legally carried weapon and shot a guy trying to rob the store he was in. He never set down his beer.
The customer who shot the suspect in an attempted armed robbery at a gas station in Cassopolis last month will not be charged, according to prosecutors.
The guy who got shot, is facing charges.
The suspect in the attempted armed robbery, identified as 35-year-old Cordeleus Anthony Martin of Dowagiac, was charged with armed robbery, assault with intent to rob while armed, felonious assault, and habitual offender (fourth offense notice). According to prosecutors, Martin was armed with a knife during the incident.
This is a link to my post from August 1st with the details of the incident.
4th offense? I guess ya have to get into high double digits before one is taken seriously as a criminal and a threat to the public. Geez or geez. Glad no charges.
