Having a gun doesn't make you invincible, but it probably helped him avoid being stabbed. Man accused of hitting another on a motorized scooter arrested, arraigned
According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, Khristopher Mahr was charged with felonious assault after allegedly striking another man with his car. Police say the assault, originally reported as shots fired, occurred on April 16 at around 1:40 p.m. in the parking lot of a Kroger Fuel Center on the 3600 block of South High Street in Far South neighborhood of Columbus.
This guy appears to have done everything correctly. He tried to avoid a confrontation. He only drew his weapon when he was threatened with violence. He still ended up being injured.
The victim said he continued towards a bus stop when Mahr’s car approached him and stopped. One of the suspects got out of the car while wielding a large Bowie style knife. The victim, who told police he feared for his life, pulled out a gun, which he had a license for.
The suspect got back into a dark sedan, backed up, then sped forward at the victim.
He shot at the car, but it still hit him.
The victim suffered a broken right foot, a broken left arm and two broken ribs.
And the loss of his scooter, probably.
Still, all of that is probably less serious than being stabbed.
The incident took place in the middle of April, but the guy in the car was just arrested earlier this month.
I thought about pointing out to the reporter and the "news" outlet that you don't need a license for a firearm in Ohio. Not to own one, and not to carry one. (Constitutional Carry was enacted last year.) They don't make that easy. Found a typo? They want to hear from you, otherwise not so much. In the end I decided that it would accomplish as much as screaming at a cloud. They are not interested in being accurate.
No one gets a guarantee in anything, you just get a chance.
