An Epic Failure of the Victim-selection Process

And concealed carry in Philadelphia is apparently a thing, and for good reason. Man attempting armed robbery shot dead by victim in West Oak Lane, police say

A 25-year-old man with a permit to carry a concealed firearm was walking in the area of 15th Street and 70th Avenue just before 7 p.m. when the 32-year-old — identified on Wednesday as Jamal Reeves — got out of a burgundy Ford sedan and announced a robbery while pointing his gun at the younger man, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The 25-year-old then pulled out his own gun and fired multiple times, striking Reeves three times in the torso, Small said.

The woman driving the car took off, and police found the vehicle abandoned a short distance away.

The guy who got shot was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A police department spokesperson on Wednesday said the 25-year-old was not expected to be charged.

Because self-defense is a human-right, and apparently it is also your legal right in Philadelphia.
