Self-defense Is Legal in Arkansas

I thought is was, and the DA's office made this call in a reasonable time-frame. Fort Smith homeowner found justified in deadly February shooting

Making a decision like this could take some district attorneys months and months, because they hate admitting that self-defense is legal. Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Shue seems to be one of the fairer DAs in the news lately.

In a police report released Friday by Shue's office, Jimenez told investigators when Webb broke into his home he told him he was going to kill him and then attacked Jimenez with a knife. Jimenez, who had a concealed weapon, a pistol, said he grabbed Webb's arm and the knife fell to the ground. Both then fell to the ground and struggled with Jimenez under Webb.

Jimenez fought to get himself out from under Webb. Jimenez said he feared he would be killed, and he pulled out his Glock pistol. As Webb started to get up, Jimenez shot Webb in the chest, according to the police report released by Shue. Webb fell backward and Jimenez then called 911.

There is still no explanation why Jacob Webb broke into a stranger's home and tried to kill him. Mr. Jimenz was injured in the attack of last month. He was treated and released from a local hospital. I guess we can chalk it up to what The Other McCain says: Crazy People Are Dangerous.

Self-defense is a human-right, and it appears to be your legal right in Arkansas.
