I know what it is like on a cold winter morning. Don't leave your car running and unattended, even though it is cold. Man who tried to steal running car shot by Auburn homeowner
Auburn police said that shortly before 6:30 a.m., the suspect got into a Toyota Camry that was left running and tried to steal it from the driveway.
The homeowner, who was inside, saw what was happening on his security cameras and then ranoutside, confronted the suspect and then shot the man, Crossley said.
After the suspect was shot, he ran from the home only to be caught by Auburn officers a few blocks away.
I don't care who was justified in doing what. Leaving your car running and unattended is not a smart thing to do. If you are that put off by the cold, make sure your next car has electrically heated seats. Or spring for the aftermarket electrically heated seats.
And yes, self-defense is a human-right, but you probably shouldn't go out of your way to put yourself in a position where you will need to defend yourself. That is not what I would call a "smart move."
