Apparently it would have been unfair to actually hold him accountable for his actions. Man charged with Ford City Mall shooting has a history of gun arrests — and a history of being let off lightly
He was arrested 3 times in 15 months (2020 and 2021), and while initially charged with felonies, those charges were dropped.
In September 2021, five days after prosecutors dropped his second gun case, Rodriguez was charged with firing a gun as police looked for a man that a CPD surveillance camera operator saw holding a pistol on the street.
In 2022 prosecutors revived one of the dropped charges, and in August he plead guilty, and was sentenced to 2 years. He was basically released for time served before he took the plea.
Rodriguez reported to Stateville Correctional Center on August 5, went home the same day, and remains on parole, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.
Six months later he got into a firefight at a Chicago mall.
And he's on probation out of Wisconsin, and outstanding warrant in suburban cook county. He's been busy.
It is amazing in all of this that he didn't kill someone, or get killed himself. And the Left will decry "gun violence," but it isn't the gun that broke all of those laws, and then got let go with no consequences. Soft on crime will not stop crime. I'm not sure what will at this point, but it isn't that.
