One Less Carjacker in Chicago

Not self-defense, but they didn't get away. Updated: Carjacker killed when victim accelerates, slams into L track support beam in the Loop, police say - CWB Chicago

Treadwell and a 16-year-old female accomplice entered an Infiniti FX35 in the 100 block of East Lake and tried to carjack a woman around 5:42 p.m., officials said. A struggle ensued, and the victim’s car accelerated into the L support column near Wabash Avenue, trapping the victim and both offenders inside, police said.

The victim and the 16-year-old were taken to hospitals and are stable. 18-year-old Elijah Treadwell was pronounced dead at a local trauma center.

There is a close look at the vehicle, but it isn't clear to me where the carjacker was in the car. CWB Chicago is one of two media outlets that are not beholden to City Hall, and so will actually report the news; if you can through a few bucks their way, they constitute a worthy cause.

The hat tip goes to The Other McCain: GOOD NEWS from Chicago!

Given the unrelenting grimness of the city’s crime wave — 735 people were murdered in Chicago last year, and another 2,937 were wounded by gunfire — it’s not often we hear anything positive, hopeful and uplifting from Cook County.
