He lost his life over a mistake. Investigators: Mistaken attack leads to shooting death at Port St. John's McDonald's
Port St. John is in Brevard County, Florida. It is not quite on the Atlantic coast. It is due east of Orlando, and just west of Cape Canaveral on the Intercoastal Waterway.
He thought the driver of a car in a McDonalds parking lot was someone else, so he attacked. It doesn't say what his issue was.
Sheriff’s investigators talked with witnesses and determined that the unidentified man had walked up earlier to a car where a driver was eating food. The unnamed driver told investigators that the man starting beating him during an unprovoked attack.
The victim fired 1 shot in self-defense. The guy who got shot was taken to a local hospital by paramedics where he was declared dead.
The investigation continues, but self-defense is a human-right.
