Disney+ has destroyed every Marvel franchise that they touched. Some were wonderful bits of Intellectual Property dating from the 1970s, like She Hulk. Now they are going to change something they KNOW works, because they hate the fans and the IP. Charlie Cox Confirms 'Daredevil: Born Again' Will Attempt To "Appeal To A Slightly Younger Audience" - Bounding Into Comics
The Netflix version of Daredevil worked. A couple of the other Marvel properties done by Netflix worked and some didn't. But Daredevil was spot on. So of course Disney+ is going to change it.
Much to the dismay of the very few fans who were still holding out hope that The Man Without Fear would survive his jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe without being ‘Disney-ified’, Matt Murdock actor Charlie Cox has confirmed that rather than continue in spirit from his original Netflix series, Disney Plus’ upcoming Daredevil: Born Again will attempt to “appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works.”
"What worked" was that Netflix took the IP seriously. And Daredevil was never meant to appeal to a younger audience. He was a brutal vigilante. But then I don't think Disney understands any IP that doesn't involve princesses.
The took Star Wars, arguably the greatest IP to come out of American cinema, and completely destroy it. They could get no one interested in a critically acclaimed SW show, Andor. They have been grinding the Marvel Cinematic Universe into dust. I haven't seen any of the recent movies in theaters, and I haven't even bothered to watch all of them, because they are terrible.
And since I am most definitely not part of a "younger audience" I will be ignoring Daredevil, even assuming I could find anyone who still has Disney+. (What are you paying for exactly?)
In fact I will be ignoring everything coming out of Disney for the foreseeable future, and includes the destruction of new Indiana Jones movie. I have no desire to see another franchise destroyed, though really they did that with that interdimensional space alien movie from years ago.
