  1. I would be curious as to which of his conclusions you disagree with as I don't see any I disagree with. The examples I would point to would be the vigilance committees in the old west.
I am reminded of an interview I read years ago where the police chief of an Arizona town that was in the midst of a police strike was asked by the local TV station what the effect on crime would be. The surprised her by saying that crime would go down as the criminals count on the police to defend them from the citizenry once caught. He said what would a homeowner do with a burglar with no officer to arrest or jail cell to put him in but shoot him.
One area I might question is the reaction of leftist authorities to such self defense actions, but I believe the public wouldn't support retribution against the ones doing the defending.

    2. Nothing will change much in the short term. But in the long term, a lack of law and order will noticeable. People are already fleeing Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles. And Illinois and California overall. I haven't seen numbers for Illinois, but "unexpectedly" California tax revenues are down something like 9 percent.

"Something that can't go on forever, won't." That is a principle in economics.

Now I suppose that the people in charge of California are ignoring reality. (The people in Chicago have been ignoring economics - and accounting - for decades.) Or they expect the federal .gov to bail them out. But the feds can't bail out California, New York, Illinois, New Orleans, etc. based on taxes from South Dakota and Wyoming.

In the long run, things will fall apart in a big way.
