August in Chicago: Not as bad as 2021

HeyJackass! has the details. August Wrap-up.

An average August is just good enough to claim a “downward trend” and therefore “crime is down”.

The totals were 70 killed, and 329 shot and wounded. That is down from 88 killed and 424 shot and wounded last year. Still it does NOT mean that things are better. Last year was a sh*t show.

August 2020: 66 killed, 430 wounded
August 2019: 51 killed, 241 wounded
August 2018: 60 killed, 302 wounded

And are we saying that those numbers are perfectly fine? 60 dead is OK?

Looking ahead to the end of the Summer of Joy and September, we do not see a 100+ killed month as we did last year but more around 65 homicides with some 300 shot and wounded. Of course, anything less than a full blown shitshow will be looked at as a “remarkable” success.
