Did They Want the Officer to Tell the Truth or Lie?

DAs - even in Texas - like to win, at all costs. Justice? Don't be ridiculous. Ex-Fort Worth employee used self-defense in killing, lawyer says | Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Fort Worth attorney Phillip Hall, who along with attorney Frank Sellers represented Hammack, said [Fort Worth Officer James] Reynolds received backlash for his testimony. Hall did not provide details of the backlash, but he noted that Reynolds was not allowed to talk to defense attorneys until he took the witness stand last week in Criminal District Court No. 2 in Fort Worth.

The only thing that Fort Worth police would say in a statement were a few platitudes about witnesses being honest and jurors weighing all the facts. They won't say what the fallout was for not backing the DA in pursuing charges.

In addition to facing the legal system, the defendant was fired from his job, years before this went to trial. "The process is the punishment."

Still, self-defense is legal in Texas, but then I thought it was.
