I’ve never been a NASCAR fan, but went through the same with the NFL.
+1 to your statement about the NFL. FWIW, here's how I've responded.
I never watch a game live. If I watch a game it's either on two hour replay, one hour replay or time delayed at least 1-1/2 hours by turning on the DVR.
Admittedly, the two and one hour replays require subscribing to the NFL Season Ticket, but the advantages to those are that the (1) both start at kickoff so no pregame crap, nobody kneeling, no time wasting crap, and the two hour replay reduces crap during the game (2) the one hour replay completely cuts out any crap during the game. Instead of 45 seconds between plays it's 15 seconds or less. With the DVR option, by starting once the game is near halftime I do the same things manually, even if it means fast forwarding through commercials manually. Since we left cable and went to streaming, I no longer have that option.
Since 99% of the crap comes during pregame, during commercial breaks or lulls in the action, these keep them out of sight.
Yeah, the NFL Season Ticket costs money. Since the teams we prefer to watch aren't on the air locally, it's the only way to see them every week. The tradeoff is we pay to see them and it gives us the chance to skip the woke crap.
I gave up on pro sports a long time ago. For years, I only saw football on Thanksgiving - my brother in law is a fan. I even stopped going to Superbowl Parties. But my sister canceled Thanksgiving a couple of years, and she has passed the torch to her stepson and his wife. (They are good people, but I feel out of place) So I haven't even seen Thanksgiving football in a few years, and probably never will again. I don't feel that my life is lacking...
