A sad commentary on the stupidity of people. NYPD reports 51% surge in stolen cars
Police say about 5,420 vehicles have been reported stolen — and roughly 2,200 of them were cases where motorists left their vehicles with the engine running, or unlocked, often with the keys or key fobs inside.
If you leave the fob in your car, anyone can drive away with it. But I guess people don't understand that. And just because you are only going to be away for a minute, doesn't mean that leaving the car running is ever a good idea. (Not even in the dead of winter.)
It would be nice if we didn't have to worry about crime. But we do.
