A runner-up for the Darwin Awards. Suspect in custody after becoming trapped in burning home.
Home invasion turned shooting. Cops arrive, take the homeowner out of the house and send him to the hospital. Also remove a "woman and a small child" from the property, because they think the bad guy is still in the house. He is.
He sets fire to the house, but gets trapped by the flames.
A deputy on scene spotted the suspect from a window, where he was calling for help. The suspect was taken out of the house and into custody. [SNIP]
Deputies have reason to believe the suspect started the fire. Investigators expect him to be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and arson.
Felony stupidity is not a violation in Texas, apparently.
