Trust The Experts, They Say

Disinformation is a problem, they say. MSNBC 'military analyst' posts video game clip claiming it's Ukraine war footage | The Post Millennial. That advisor would be Retired Four Star General Barry McCaffrey.

Disinformation is a problem, they say. It is so much of a problem that they have created our very own Ministry of Truth, to tell us the difference between Pravda (The Truth) and lies.

Of course it would be nice if the experts had a freaking clue. (They don't have a clue; they have an agenda.)

Though Retired Four Star General Barry McCaffrey may just be an idiot with a spot on MSNBC's list of "experts."

The clip in question came from YouTube's "shorts" section, and is titled "Russian MiG-29's Get Shot Down By Air Defense System | Arma 3 #Shorts #Airdefense #Arma3."

Click the link above to find the video.

McCaffrey's tweet was deleted at some point after Benny Johnson pointed out the glaring mistake.

Too bad for the general (retired) that the internet has a long memory. There are numerous screenshots of the Tweet. I don't know if anyone dumped it to the Wayback Machine or not.

Now the video quality in Arma 3 is good, but it really is not photorealistic. Not quite.

The photos that I've seen which accompany the several versions of this story, show the general in his role as trusted advisor to the talking heads on MSNBC, but he didn't discuss this on the network, only on Twitter. Any bets on whether he loses that trusted-advisor role?

And for those of you who were not paying attention in high school, The Ministry of Truth is from Orwell's Nineteen Eight-Four. What we actually have is more like the "official news agency" Pravda, which existed under the old Soviet Union. Pravda is Russian for Truth. There was an old Soviet saying about Pravda and Izvestia (The News).

There is no news in The Truth and no truth in The News. But the average citizen was protected from information that the Soviet bureaucrats deemed dangerous, seditious, or untrue. Or decadent. Though I don't think that the current Administration has any problem with decadent. And their agenda revolves completely around managing information.

  1. Here's a link, with some apt commentary. (And yes, Reuters DID post a photo of Ukrainian soldiers with paintball gear. "Professional Journalism")
