The cop in question is an idiot. 15-year-old boy wrongly charged with shooting store clerk in Waukegan says police offered him McDonald's in exchange for confession.
Williams said police kept asking him the same question and offered him McDonald’s in exchange for a confession, CBS Chicago reported.
“It is true he bribed me with McDonald’s, and he kept trying to get a confession,” Williams said.
They arrested the wrong guy, and tried to bribe him with lunh to confess. When they realized that they had the wrong guy, they set him free, expunged his record and shut up.
Florip said the police department immediately eliminated the teen as a suspect in the case and he was released from custody Friday morning and cleared of all charges.
The PD will "review" to see what they can learn, but they can't comment. My take is that they are hoping the whole thing goes away. But it won't go away as the family has a lawyer.
This kid is 15, so is it even legal for cops to question him without a parent or guardian?
I worked with a guy that got on the Waukegan PD and he lasted less than a year because he couldn't deal with the "problems" that the department had.
