Self-defense in the San Francisco Bay Area

And the authorities in that part of the world don't like self-defense. Investigation Underway After Suspected Trespasser Fatally Shot by Cupertino Homeowner: Sheriff.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a 4:08 a.m. call regarding a homeowner firing shots at a trespasser at a residence in the 20000 block of Patric Court, according to Sheriff's Deputy Russell Davis. The deputies found a man with at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Davis said.

Are they hoping to charge the homeowner with a crime? Probably.

Self-defense is a human-right, but I wouldn't count on California, or some parts of that state anyway, to recognize it as a legal right.
