Why do people think that they are protected by their zip code? 'I'm glad he had a gun': Neighbors thinking of Abbottstown couple attacked by naked intruder
A guy was acting erratically, trying to get into homes, banging on cars, making traffic stop, etc.
While troopers were responding to the scene, Shaffer, who was wearing only a shirt, entered the couple's home in the 900 block of Green Springs Road and started assaulting the husband.
The husband told his wife to retrieve a gun from the bedroom. Shaffer followed and attacked her. The husband managed to get the revolver and shot Shaffer, who died at the scene.
As for the neighbors...
"I never did think anything like this would happen," neighbor Roy Reed said.
Crime is not something that only happens in "other kinds of places" to "other kinds of people." If you can read this, then you live in the Real World™ where crime can, and all too often, does happen. You should plan accordingly.
Click thru for more details, and though they do not say, it is clear to me that this is a case of self defense. Both of the elderly couple ended up in the hospital, and the wife was severly injured to the point of being evacuated by helicopter.
Self-defense is a human-right.
